Apprenticeship Programs

Plumber and Pipefitter Apprenticeship Programs are accepting approximately 100 apprentices per year regardless of RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, NATIONAL ORIGIN OR AGE.

Applicants are required to have:

Proof of age (Minimum age of 18)
High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Pass a substance abuse test
Valid driver’s license
Take and pass tests that include: a Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) for Mechanical Reasoning, WorkKeys Applied Mathematics and Graphic Literacy
Test fee – see application for specific costs

Beginning apprentices could earn $1,040 over a two week period, in wages and fringes, while working and attending school. The fringes include medical benefits for the apprentice, their spouse and children. Over the 5-year apprenticeship, apprentices could earn over $250,000. Upon successfully completing the apprenticeship program they obtain Journeyperson status. A fully employed Journeyperson Plumber or Pipefitter normally earns a minimum of $71,000* per year. A fully employed Journeyperson accumulates approximately one million dollars in pension benefits after working 30 years. Apprentices can earn 30-38 college credits towards an Associate Degree in Applied Science. (*This figure does not include the additional value of fringes, such as insurance, pension etc. that a union employee earns each year.)
